Summer Favorites

Biking

There are all kinds of places to ride in Aspen/Snowmass whether for mountain biking, road biking or just cruising around town (take one of our cruiser bikes out for a spin for free - just ask at the front desk). Join us for our "Cruise Around Town" on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30, June-September. These free guided tours will focus on a theme each week from ecology to art. Check the full schedule here, and be sure to sign up in advance at the front desk. From beginner to advanced or scenic tours to hard-core single-track, you can find your ride in Aspen/Snowmass. There are even mountain biking lessons and guided adventures provided at Snowmass. If you are looking for a bike to rent, check out our sister property, The Little Nell for top-of-the-line Orbea road and mountain bikes equipped with GPS units pre-loaded with popular area rides. You can also ask our front desk for a map of our favorite rides.  

Fly Fishing

Guests of The Limelight can take advantage of The Little Nell's Adventure Program, featuring the best fly fishing instruction in the valley as well as access to a hand-crafted wooden boat and gourmet picnic lunches. A full menu of trips is available from our five star, five diamond sister property.   

Golf and Tennis

When you visit Aspen/Snowmass, within a 30-minute drive you can enjoy and be challenged by a number of public and private golf courses and tennis courts. Guests of The Limelight get special access to The Snowmass Club, a private club featuring a Jim Engh-designed 18-hole course as well as a 19,000 square foot athletic club and spa, 13 tennis courts, two restaurants and more. Guests can spend a day at the Club for a daily fee.

Hiking

Hiking is one of our favorite spring/summer/fall activities, and there are trails for all ability levels. Check with our front desk for your best bets, depending on weather and desired distance, or check out a list of local hiking trails to get a better idea.

Rafting/Kayaking

Whitewater rafting is the ultimate Colorado experience and Aspen is home to mellow streams and Class IV rapids alike. We recommend Blazing Adventures or other local outfitters to get you out there playing in the water.

Skiing/Snowboarding

We love Aspen/Snowmass! Having four mountains on one lift ticket is just amazing. To help you enjoy the mountains even more, our ski concierge will help you with lift tickets and rentals, and we provide complimentary transportation to all four ski areas. We also offer exclusive access to the mountains with our First Tracks and Inside Tracks programs.

Cross-Country Skiing

The Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Trail System boasts over 90 kilometers/60 miles of FREE cross-country ski and snowshoe trails within, and connecting to, the communities of Aspen, Snowmass and Basalt. Trails are varied in terrain for beginners to experts.

Powder Tours

Enjoy no lift lines, no crowds, just the exhilaration of skiing some of the Rocky Mountains' finest powder snow in a spectacular setting. Two guides and a driver lead each 12 person snowcat group, selecting terrain according to daily snow conditions and the group's experience.

Snowshoe Tours

Weave in and out of spruce-fir forest along a babbling creek and learn about the animals that inhabit the Rocky Mountains in winter. Naturalists from Aspen Center for Environmental Studies lead guided twice-daily tours at Snowmass and Aspen Mountain.

Ice Skating

There are several sheets of Ice in Aspen. From the low-key Aspen Ice Garden to the NHL-sized Lewis Ice Arena to the outdoor Silver Circle rink, there is something for ice skaters of all ages and abilities in Aspen.
