Spring Jam

Bud Light Spring Jam 2010

Bud Light Spring Jam will be celebrating its tenth anniversary this spring on March 19 through the 21 and March 26 through the 28, 2010. This festival will bring competitions, downtown concerts, and parties to Aspen and Snowmass Village.

The Core Party in downtown Aspen and Bud Light Big Air Fridays on Snowmass Mountain start the festival off on the nineteenth. The Core Party is a free concert open to the public and is a good place to enjoy the beer garden, kettle corn, and much more. Bud Light Air Fridays take place both weeks of the festival and include competitors trying to show off their best tricks off a 40 foot jump. Viewers can enjoy the entertainment and generous crowd giveaways. Also enjoy the free Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert series on March 21 in Snowmass and March 26 at Aspen Mountain.

Bud Light Spring Jam continues the next day with the KickAspen Big Air at Aspen Mountain and the “Fallen Friends” Memorial event at Aspen Highlands. The KickAspen Big Air Invitational showcases the best ski and snowboard athletes in the region to compete for prize money under the lights at the base of Aspen Mountain. The Fallen Friends Memorial event will collect teams of two to six to compete in an obstacle course of park features. The proceeds will benefit the AVSC scholarship fund in honor of “fallen friends.”

During March 20, 21, 27, and 28 sign up for the entry level Terrain Park Boot Camp that will be set up on Fanny Hill in Snowmass. Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club will teach beginners how to safely slide rails and do some tricks. The camp is open to children 13 and up as well as any eager adults.

The Red Bull Schneetag and Helly Hansen Battle in the Bowls will complete Bud Light Spring Jam 2010. On March 27, the Red Bull Schneetag will have teams of four build a craft to take down Fanny Hill in Snowmass and try to float across a 75 by 20 foot pond. Every team must perform a skit before going down Fanny Hill. Last year Red Bull awarded first, second, and third place prizes. On March 28, Helly Hansen Battle in the Bowls will bring Spring Jam to an end. Teams of two ski the many bowls of Aspen Highlands on a course designed by Aspen/Snowmass athlete Chris Davenport. Teams may take any route they wish, but they must complete every run listed on the course. GPS devices track the teams as they travel across the mountain.
