Winter X Games 2010 in Aspen, Colorado
Once again the Winter X Games will return to Aspen, Colorado for a ninth year on January 28 through January 31, 2010 at Buttermilk Mountain. As stated by ESPN, the Winter X Games, the premier action sports event in the world, will include more than 200 of the best action sports athletes including past Olympians. Athletes from around the world will compete in ski, snowboard, and snowmobile competitions to earn medals and prize money. Along with the extreme winter sport scene, comes nightly concerts and other events. All evening and day events are free and open to the public.
Two new disciplines, SuperPipe High Air and Snowmobile Knock Out, have been added to this years competition. SuperPipe High Air will feature six skiers competing in a 30 minute jam session to achieve highest air. Snowmobile Knock Out will see which rider can travel the farthest from the ramp, each time “knocking out” the competitor who has traveled the least amount of distance so far. Along with the new disciplines the old still remain. For snowboard and ski, competitors will compete in Big Air for men, Slopestyle for men and women, and Superpipe for men and women. Snowmobile categories include Best Trick for men, Freestyle for men, Snowcross, and Adaptive Snowcross.
Due to the recent agreement between ESPN and the Aspen Skiing company the Winter X Games will remain in Aspen/Snowmass until 2012. Don't miss out on the extreme competition and world class athletes!
